Another Way Out (OPEN)

Maya rolled out of bed like it had been the end of the world. Somehow, her bed still seemed to be mentally singing to her 'baby come back' as it stared at her longingly. She stared back at it longingly as well, but there were plenty of things she could be doing today other than lounge about and that was explore. After all, there were still a few days before classes and there were places to see and things to do. Or so, that is what Maya Scofield thought and she was going to keep that sheer determination with her. Throwing on some clothes, she was out the door with her purse and keys to see what new things the world would bring her that day. Hopefully, they had nothing to do with Serena Van Whatever. As she strolled about, her phone went off, "Hello?...Oh, hi parents. I'm doing well, adjusting well. Minus the time zone, what am I, like three hours ahead of you?" So she continued chattering on for a while, finally stopping by the coffee shack, "Yeah, no, I'll call you soon. Love you, bye!" And it was then that she noticed a girl and Maya couldn't help but to feel embarrassed, talking like a girl who had never been away from home, "Sorry about that. Hope I wasn't disturbing you or anything."

Well, that had been a relief because Maya would have hated that if she had interupted the girl or anyting, espeacially when unlike the rest of the population here, this girl actually seemed nice. She also seemed shy though by her actions, "Well, I wouldn't call it company yet but I can be," Maya said with a smile now. At the invitation to sit, she nodded, "Sure, I haven't got anything better to do. I was kinda just trying to get myself out of my room and well, I had to draw the line somewhere in the relationship between me and my bed." With that, she sat down now and slid her phone back into her wristlet, "So, I'm Maya. You are?"

For a moment, Maya wasn't even sure if the girl would answer her. She seemed rather meek, or at least, not the type to entirely enjoy socializing with other people. Although, if that really was the case, Maya supposed that the girl wouldn't have even bothered to ask her to sit with her but her bed comment had seemed to place a smile on the other girl's face, "Yeah? I do it all the time, I should probably start caring soon with classes coming up," Maya commented now and then grinned, "And it's a pleasure to meet you Dakota." People slowly started to show up to get their own coffee and sweets now it seemed, and Maya couldn't help but to notice the girl looking like she wished she could just shrink away and that sigh was a huge giveaway, "Guilty as charged. Came here for the horse program, but I just like to ride. I'm not one of those crazy people, you know?"
